Chef Aaron

Tonight my husband is making dinner. He decided he wanted to try and make breaded steak for us tonight. So he takes his computer into the kitchen because the directions are in an email.
He starts off munching on his new favorite gummi snacks, Sweedish Fish. (I’ve tried to break him of his habit of munching right before a meal, but so far it hasn’t worked).
As im watching from the living room couch, I can’t help but be amused by the way he conducts himself in the kitchen. I mean, he doesn’t know where everything is since he’s only been home for two weeks and the only time he’s had to actually make himself food is when it’s sandwich or cereal because I’ve tried to cook things and leftovers you just have to warm up. Either that or we eat out.

(my view from the couch)

Anyways, as he is quizzically looking at the directions I notice that he looks very confused. Then there’s some mumbling to himself as im sure he’s trying to figure out what he’s got himself into with volunteering to cook!
As he rummages through the cabinets to get the ingredients while he’s thawing out the steaks, he grabs a pan and he slowly walks up to the couch and says, “Hey, this is a really stupid question, but….is this a skillet?”
To which I reply with silence. Im wondering if he’s being serious or not, so I search his face and laugh out loud at the hilarious moment when I realized he was serious. (I know it’s rude but it was funny!) I answered, “Yes.”
To which he replied that the next time I (Heather) ask a “stupid question” he will make sure that he laughs at it. (Can’t you feel the love in this realtionship lol)

So as he’s fumbling through the cabinets some more he asks, “No strainer?”
I said, “No, want me to tell you how I do it…”
And he kind of cut me off and said, “I know what to do, thank you”
Ok so I took that as my cue to let him be the man in the kitchen and only answer questions that I’m directly asked haha.

At Least We Know They Work…..

Im minding my own business, talking to my sister on the phone, trying to keep my mouth closed and let Aaron do his thing in the kitchen. And all of a sudden,
****BEEP BEEP BEEP BEEP BEEP BEEP BEEP BEEP BEEP BEEP****** the fire alarms started going off because the whole house was filled with smoke. (I guess I should have told him to turn on the vent Before the house filled up)
I tried fanning the alarms but that didn’t work so I opened the back door and the kitchen window to let the house clear out a little. It still smells like smoke in here and it’d been 30 minutes since the incident. Haha

After he presented the plate to me with the finished product, he went back to his computer and said “It sure didn’t turn out as good as the picture made it look. Oh well, next time I’ll make it with chicken.”

Well, the meal was pretty good for this first time “breaded steak cook” with mac and cheese to go with it, we’re looking forward to his next attempt with CHICKEN.
Here's the finished product:

All in all, im thankful for a husband who’s willing to make dinner for us every once in a while….but I guess im stuck with the clean up?….hahaha

Two weeks down with having him home…..life is amazing! <3

HE'S HOOOOOOOME!!!!

Aaron made it back!!!!

His homecoming ceremony was Monday March 14th at 5:00 pm. My friend Brittany, her two kids and i got to the gym close to 4 and it was packed! Dang, that hour was the longest hour of our lives! Just knowing that our husbands were right behind the doors waiting to march in and then would be dismissed....ahh it was so nerve-wracking! They showed a video of the guys getting off the plane while we waited.
Then they marched in...(i forgot my camera but my friend got pictures i'll post when i get them from her), this guy said a welcome blah blah blah i don't really know cause i was just trying to find Aaron in the sea of army uniforms all lined up.
They sang the army song and said their creed and then they were dismissed. And it was chaos...It took me a while to find Aaron but then there he was! And it was the best thing ever!! haha i can't even find the words to explain...

Anyways, im so happy to have him home, i can't believe he's been here for a week already! The day after he got home we went to Rochester in the afternoon and spent the night cause i had an appointment for my jaw the next day. We went on a shopping spree to get him some new civilian clothes and i think he's got a pretty good wardrobe now :)

So im sure i'll post more later, we plan on taking a trip to New York City in April because they get the whole month off on leave, but for now im just going to be enjoying my time with my husband cause we're done with that long year of seperation :)
